Explanatory Notes
In assessing qualifications of existing or prospective AMEP teachers, providers should be guided by these explanatory notes.
The detailed information necessary for assessing qualifications and/or experience can normally be found in course transcripts or statements of service from previous employers.
There may be cases where the pattern of qualifications does not match those outlined here, but where either the teacher or the provider believes special consideration should be given on the basis of equivalence. Providers are urged to give these cases full consideration. If requested, NEAS may be able to give a second opinion, provided full documentation is available.
Note A
A recognised undergraduate degree is
a formal qualification awarded by an Australian university or tertiary institution
or its overseas equivalent, that is at least three years full-time in length or its part-time
equivalent.
Note: Teachers holding qualifications such as the above from overseas institutions should refer to Australian Education International.

* If a course undertaken has less than 60 hours practicum, teachers must demonstrate teaching experience equivalent to 60 hours, or must make up the difference in duration by individually organising a supervised practicum. Appropriate documentation of such practicum should be kept. |
